Spring 2023 Filmmaker Grant

The Film Impact Georgia Filmmaker Grant is a no strings-attached (sort of) grant to support Georgia-based filmmakers in producing short film content to practice their craft and further their skills as filmmakers.

To qualify, you must be a Georgia-based filmmaker and have plans to shoot the film in the next year in Georgia. This grant is for *SHORT FILMS ONLY.

If selected, Filmmakers will receive $5,000 and a mentor to help throughout the process of completing the film. See past finalists and their projects here.

Spring Grant Timeline:

Applications open: Monday, January 9th

Deadline: Saturday, March 11th

Finalists announced: Wednesday, April 12th

Winner Announced: Wednesday, May 10th

Grant Finalization Process:

The application will open on Monday, January 9th, 2023, and then close on Saturday, March 11th @ 11:59pm. We will narrow down the applicants to ten finalists which will be announced on Wednesday, April 12th. The finalists will be interviewed, and then guest judges will review the ten projects and the final grant recipient will be announced on Wednesday, May 10th, 2023.

You can submit more than one project, just make sure you fill out an application for each.

RULES, REGULATIONS & APPLICATION

* This grant is for short films only (i.e. less than 40 minutes). The reasoning behind this is that typically there is no return on investment for short films, thus making it harder to find funding. Short films are an important part of independent filmmaking as it is where filmmakers learn their craft and figure out who they are as artists.
